Ferry. MS KALAKALA was a ferry service that operated on the Puget Sound (USA) from 1935 to 1967. A striking vessel for its time and known as “the world's first streamlined vessel”, due to her unique Art Deco style. In 1967 the ship ran aground in Alaska and was converted into a shrimp preservation factory. In 1998 the ship was towed back to Puget Sound with the aim of restoring the Kalakala to its former glory. Unfortunately due to lack of funds, the ship was scrapped in 2015, much to the chagrin of many.

Veerboot. MS KALAKALA was een veerdienst, die actief was op de Puget Sound ( USA ) vanaf 1935 tot 1967. Een voor zijn tijd een opvallend schip en staat bekend als “werelds eerste gestroomlijnde schip”, vanwege haar unieke art-decostijl. In 1967 is het schip in Alaska gestrand en omgebouwd tot garnalen conserveringsfabriek. In 1998 werd het schip weer naar Puget Sound gesleept, met het doel de Kalakala weer in zijn oude glorie te herstellen. Helaas wegens gebrek aan fondsen werd het schip in 2015 gesloopt, tot verdriet van velen.
